I've enjoyed Aaron Acevedo's art in a number of RPG products over the years, stuff from White Wolf, Pinnacle, and John Wick's assorted imprints. It's nice to actually have an art book with some of his best work, without text or logos. Beautiful stuff.

![[Savage Worlds] Strike Force 7 - Savaged! [Savage Worlds] Strike Force 7 - Savaged!](images/97/63145.jpg) |
Want to play a GI Joe-style roleplaying game? Want to do it in Savage Worlds? Here's your solution. The background for Strike Force 7 is detailed and filled with in-jokes from the "military fantasy" genre, and provides plenty of character background opportunities and loads of bad guys to fight. It only suffers slightly from conversion to Savage Worlds from its original d20 incarnation, mainly because edges are not straight-across equivalents of feats, but that's a minor quibble. Solid setting.

I love the style of the book and, being a fan, the flavour of anything Firefly related. I'm not, however, a big fan of the mechanics themselves. For one thing, I felt the game didn't need to base every test, trait, and achievement on quotes from the movie. My friends and I did some eye rolling as we read the level rankings. I've also just never been a fan of the Cortex system itself for various reasons not related to this specific book.
This book is a great collector's piece for any Firefly fan, however, as the design, descriptions, and the oft-mentioned Chinese phrasebook to the 'Verse are all engaging. My review boils down to it having fantastic production values but needing to back off referencing the show in every minute aspect of the mechanics, or at the very least, expanding on those references....

What a fabulous combination... the writing of the legendary Margaret Weis (DragonLance) meets one of the greatest sci-fi TV series/movies ever created: Firefly/Serenity (Joss Wheden's masterpiece thus far).
The Cortex system is pretty cool... but this book is even great for Firefly/Serenity fans who just want to learn more and read more about these well-thought out and developed characters. The book even includes Chinese words for you to use in your campaign.
Now, it's your turn to explore the 'Verse....

An enjoyable, mostly self-contained story arc. Crwm is everything you could want in an apocalyptic demon-god.

This free introduction to the series is fun, with some setting ideas worth grabbing too. I don't know the history of this comic at all, but some odd layout towards the end almost suggests they've brought together some shorter strips and wrapped an extended storyline around them to make a first issue - it works rather well.

Nostalgic and oh-so-very 80s. I love it. Only wish I had had the pleasure of reading this when it was originally published.

This track gradually moves from a airy beginning to slow drums with mysterious (and repetitive) electronic tones, and then erupts into the driving, percussive core of the track. For some reason, I feel that I should like this track more than I do. The "static" effects in the track are what put me off, I think; it almost sounds like a flatulent electrical socket is one of the primary instruments in the heart of the song. I suppose if your three-headed monster breathes lightning, you might appreciate those sound effects. The track is skillfully executed, but I find it to be mismatched with the tone I personally want to set at the gaming table. Then again, I usually play fantasy, not mecha/kaiju games, and that could account for the genre mismatch....

Browncoats will love this. The text is artfully produced, and the game is a fitting homage to the rich though shortly-lived Serenity setting. The skill sections in particular are a delight to read, as they allude to various events within the franchise as examples of different difficulty ratings.
If you and your gaming group are fans of the show, this one's worth the money.

The unisystem mechanics work very well for a super hero based gamed. I am looking forward to seeing the final product.

I had my doubts when I first started this, but before I knew it, I was at the end.
Perhaps the idea of men as sex slaves compelled me on, perhaps it was that it was just different. Either way, the only thing left when I finished, was a longing for more.
Our hero was there for how long, that wasn't mentioned. One question I thought about, was did he perform to complete expectations.
As for the axe wielding girl friend, I found her delightful in how she played her part.
I'd like to give this a five (as the story line was beautiful), but it was really short and a bit lacking in detail.
You mentioned that you had thought to add or change it. Personally, leave this alone. Write another, expanded version....

As something of a response to the above review...
It makes sense to me that Cubicle 7 would want to promote the series that is on now rather than the old one, and that the BBC would require this. Nevertheless, as is being proved on the unofficial forum, you can very much do classic Who with this game. And, on the cover of the upcoming UNIT boxed set what do we see? Brigaider Alistair Lethbridge-Stewart, an old school Cyberman and Dalek, and a Yeti! I would be quite surprised if there were not also stats for the Third Doctor and maybe even the Second. So the classic stuff IS coming.
I believe a review should concentrate on what the game IS, rather than slamming it for not including stuff which is outside its scope anyway. This game is fantastic! It is fast-paced, rules-light, with systems that emulate the show beautifully. The production values are off the scale..and it comes in a BOX! I have missed boxed sets like this, frankly. A caveat: I was a playtester on this project. I lov...

As a long time Doctor Who fan and owner of the two previously published Who RPGs (Timelord and the FASA product), I was looking forward to Cubicle 7s effort- new series, new RPG!
Overall the production value is high- lots of color, lots of photos from the new series. Very snazzy and wonderful to flip through.
The system is a pretty basic, straightforward one- not very complex at all and generally appears to be more story than character driven. Would be a great casual RPG for newbies.
But it wasn't so much what the game included than what it DID NOT include or really mention: the various regenerations of The Doctor, his companions over the years and even some of the better villians from the series long history. It is like Doctor Who started with the 9th Regeneration and Rose with nothing prior to that given much mention at all!
No Jamie or Zoe, no Romana, no Peri, no Ace.... no Ice Warriors, no Zygons, no mention of earlier varieties of Cybermen or Daleks.... none, nada, zip...
